Party Invitation

Twenty years? No one could believe it. And yet, Alamo Architects, a small architecture firm started by college friends, was hitting a big milestone and feeling optimistic. A party date was set for a swank downtown gallery, and a rising star chef lined up for fancy canapés. The invitation called for a little aspirational elegance, tempered with the firm’s trademark irreverence. Collaging the kitschy poster image from the 1960 John Wayne Alamo movie with Spy Magazine-style clipped-out heads, the invitation sent the clear message: we still cannot take ourselves seriously. The formal invitation was printed on laid finish paper, and arrived in snowy white square envelopes with deckled edges. The party was packed to the rafters. Alamo founders, associates, staff and friends of the office welcomed the next decade with panache. And one or two champagne headaches…
